Do you want to fish in Mexican Waters?

Please always be respectful of the regulations when fishing in Mexico. The penalties for not following them could be jail time and boat seizure which can be easily avoided. We are very lucky to have great fishing at the Coronado Islands so close to home. Please don’t ruin our continued opportunity to utilize this valuable resource. Mexico can reverse their policy and close this area anytime as they have done with other areas.

If you are fishing within the designated Mexican waters but are going to be more than 12 miles offshore you only need 2 items.

  1. Mexican Fishing License (Price is in Pesos so don’t freak out) Buy your license here

  2. US Declaration of Catch (for bringing fish back from Mexico into US waters) Link for Form

If you are fishing in Mexican waters and want to fish within 12 miles of shore you will need the items above and the following below.

  1. FMM Permit - Must include all passengers on permit. Purchase here If you are fishing in this zone you must have a passport.

If you want to fish the Coronado Islands, Todos Santos or San Martin Islands you much purchase the above items and a Biosphere Reserve Bracelet (One Day) or Passport (yearly). If you are going to fish your own boat within the 12 miles boundary you will also need a Temporary Import Permit (TIP) which is good for 10 years. This must be kept on the boat at all times. Purchase here
